I wholeheartedly believe that life-long learning is key to a successful life and career. I recognize the immense power that lies in professional development opportunities. We owe it to our students to stay up to date on the best teaching practices and implement those strategies into our classrooms. Another aspect of professional responsibility is to be prepared to handle emergency situations within the classroom and the school as necessary.
Below, I have included my SafeSchools certificates from the following courses: Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Prevention, Automated External Defibrillators (AED), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid. Through these classes, I have learned the appropriate procedures to carry out when emergencies arise within the classroom. In addition to these certifications from Safe Schools, I have also completed my First Aid, AED, CPR hands-on training from the American Heart Association. The final artifact is my certificate of completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect training from the Virginia Department of Social Services. Through this training, I learned how to recognize the various signs of abuse and neglect and also the protocols for reporting these concerns. |
